I installed a K&N filter on my new '05 fiddy, and when i removed the stock air box, it has a line running out of it that leads down into the case. When the bike is running, it feels like air is blowing out of this line, not sucking. Is it ok to get rid of this line and leave it unfiltered? Im not sure what the heck else to do with it... :?:

from your description it sounds like the crankcase breather tube...and you should definitely keep it and keep it filtered. UNI and K&N make filters for these vents.

good luck!

Uni's filter is Part# UP-121

Most any on-line 50 shop will carry something that will work. Applied has one too... Or go to your local lawnmower store and see what small filters they have for a 5/16" vaccum line.

I just did the same thing. Went to Advance Auto and picked up an in-line fuel filter for a lawn mower. It fits the hose perfect, has an internal paper filter and only cost $1.97. I went ahead and sprayed some filter oil in it just in case...appears to be working fine and like you said except for start up and shut down it is blowing air out continuously so this should be able to trap any dirt that might be sucked up during starts and shut down.
