    Stock Airbox question

    by Shadow5 » Wed Aug 28, 2013 1:37 pm

Hi all! I've got a 2004 CRF50, everything stock. Do I need that metal plate that goes over the air filter, or is that just bottling things up?

I'm hoping to get an extra 7-8 hp by removing it. No, I really just want to know if it has any inherent value or if there are any risks to removing it (like it is the only thing keeping the seal tight around the air filter, or something like that).

    Thanks!

It's not required for any particular function. On my 70, I cut it out on the inside and kept the sealing part. I also cut the snorkel part fo the airbox off to open that up.
