    Would a 18mm Carb do it?? (2003 XR50)

hi i bought my son a 2003 XR50 and i am trying to make it suitible for both of us to ride, i dont want to up the power or anything, but like i put a k&n, took out the baffle and machined an aluminum tip for it and put the Pro Taper triple clamp and bar kit. I really dont like the way this bike runs, i was woundering if i could put a 18mm carb on it so i could jet it better? Any other suggestions, I just fell like it dosent idle right and alot of bog on bottom. There only the neddle adjustment of the stock carb right, ive droped it 2 notches already. Someone help me thanks

dan...if you "dropped" the needle two positions that would lean it out more...you might reverse that and see how it runs. also, a bbr rev box will make a noticable difference in performance/responsiveness. also, if your machined baffle is just a straight through setup you might have actually reduced performance over what is possible with that stock pipe as the motor does appreciate some back pressure. the other mod that will really make a huge difference is putting in a 450r motor into the crf50 frame. i hear that will wake things up a bit. ;)

hey well i tried going up with the clip and it gets worse. So rev box i thought of, i think thats my next buy. Putting a 450R motor in a XR50 well m y son wouldent be able to ride it anymore lol. The machined tip, well you could be right about that, im going to try and put the original baffle back in and see how it feels, thanks bud
