My daughter has out grown her xr50 i just borrowed our freinds 2000 xr70 to try out. The power is very weak so i adjusted the valves dialed the carb and it is better but still seems very slow! first gear pulls ok but the shift to second almost feels like third (feels very high geared!) the bike is all stock. Our 2003 xr50 feels like it has as much or more power. no smoke. are the xr70's just a dog? I was going to compression check but the plug is sooooo small i didn't have the right adapter. is this normal for a xr70?

My second bike was an XR70. What I did was I rev-shifted it into second, keep the RPMs high so that they are about equal to the RPMs you will put out in 2nd. Sorry though, I don't really remember how small or large the plugs were on mine. That was like, 14 years ago!
