Don't get me started on the oil ratio debate!!
A my son's 2001 CR80 has the workshop manual state 20:1.
I have had many dealer and oil sales people say use this or that, "it's synthetic and can be used up to 80:1".
Running at 20:1 it doesn't foul plugs (unless it is idled a lot), the little end bearing is always perfect come time to change it, the piston is clean (looks new)and it has never gone BANG like some of the engines of people whom with we ride.
Yes it does blow some fat when he is giving it heaps, but it is a two stroke.
Don't go changing oil mixtures without adjusting your jetting or a least check how rich or lean the mixture will be.
I have never had a two stroke go bang when running manufacturers oil mix ratios, the same can't be said for other who have played.
The fouling you had might not be caused by the oil but things like - too rich a mixture, dirty aircleaner, too much slow speed (can happen on some trails) and too much idling.
Opps - told you not to get me going.
