Need more young 4-strokers in Texas

    by deemit60 » Wed Feb 15, 2006 8:13 pm

We have some major tracks that will run races with 4-strokes if you just SHOW UP....I am talking about the younger guys who ride anything from an 80-150 4-stroke and your age is 11-14. Don't won't to discuss how many tracks want to include them in the "Open 4-stroke". We are talking about young men/women that want to race.

My son rides a 100 (he is 13 yrs old) and is the MAJOR competition at these races, if THERE were any competition. The last race he ran the boy that beat him was more then happy to tell him - GOOD Race - as the poor kid had no competition until he showed up for the series.

I have wrote all the major tracks that run series - Lake Whitney, Freestone, Badlands, Oak Hill, Village Creek to run these races. The only problem I have is that not enough riders are showing up to give the class a run.

Usually there are anywhere from 3-12 riders in this class, but if you don't show up - hey, it makes the track not want to run it. Plus, doesn't everyone want competition?? It makes it much more fun to race!!

Everyone needs to contact their local tracks and push for a younger 4-stroke class. I tell ya - I have one track that will run them in a series, but only if they start the series!! I get tired of sitting at home on race wkends just because noone will run this class!!!! dee

    deemit60,

Where are you located in TX? Have you rode Freestone? It's probably my fav that's close to Waco. I want to ride Whitney but always seem to miss they're weekend. Wish they had an open practice.

    Hey fellow Waco-person

I only say that because my dad is from there. I know the city pretty well, as I still have family there.

Anyway - yes, we have been to Freestone - in fact, my mother is from that area - so its like a hometown track to me - but my son never got to race there as the only Full Moon race there was rained out...plus, the Millers - I think its there name, put a damper on the series as they wouldn't allow the sponsors to come in free..

The track looks awesome!!! You ride a 250??? I am looking for the smaller bikes that want competition within their age group. Meaning - 11-14 year olds riding anywhere from a 4-stroke 80-to a 150. I have talked to several race tracks and they will run the race, but got to have the racers show up.

Are you going to run the next Full Moon Series??? Starts at Badlands MX - excellent track!!! My son races the 4-stroke class on a CRF 100 and will run the CR85 class if we can get some practice time on the bike. Come on out!! We have alot of friends that ride the 250 class and believe it or not - one is only 13 yrs old and is AWESOME..(heck, I have known him since he was in his mom's tummy)....Dee (mom- who is an ex moto-x-er)... ;) Ride Red!!! I don't know about the Full Moon but I plan on running the FMF Texas Night Series. I have a buddy whose son rides a Yamaha 100 or 150 (some where in that range, haven't really paid attention to it). I think he usually runs in the 85 class as most tracks don't have a class for the smaller four strokes. He's raced at Freestone but after taking a spill at Waco it's been hard to get him to race some where else.

A 13 year old on a 250 always makes me kind of sad as I know I will get beat by someone half my age and weight.
