I race mine at the local track against 450's they blow the doors on me but I usally don't get lapped until the last lap. Last night I wouldn't had been lapped if I didn't miss shift. I run in the plus 30 class

I'm gonna try some Hare Scrambles this summer on my 230f, I'm just gonna do it for fun and to get used to these races before I move up toa 250r in a few years. I'm gonna have fun and leave it all out on the course.

Find a track with "non-conforming" classes.
    These include Xr's and TTR's
My son started racing in non-conforming clasess.
Nice way to "test the waters" without competing against full on race bikes

yeah i know what you mean, i had the 230 and also did some local races against 125s, i came in second out of 15, but if they actually knew how to ride them the 125's should have completely wasted my 230.. they had me on every straightaway and uphill section, but i gained time everywhere else

but if you wanna race it i say go ahead, just have a few fork seals on hand.. lol

Don't let people tell you that you will lose becouse they have faster bikes, if you have the skill then you can beat them no matter what they ride.

    hey bud...he said 230, not 250...

The CRF230 will get demolished on any MX track that has anyone with skill on 125's. That's the wrong class for your bike. As Mikey said, find a track with a trail bike class.

That was when i had my 230 I raced it at my local track. I didn't have my 230 very long before I stepped up to my CR250 and then to my CRF450.
I was just out there having fun on my 230. the other track i race at now has a trailbike class but is for the 0-110 auto clutches and then the 0-150 trailbikes. So i couldn't run it in either one. Only class i could run was the +30. It was a good experiance just to get out on the track and see how things worked for a first timer until I got my real race bikes.

Ohh...no kidding. I don't remember you having the 230! Time flies I guess. The +30 class around here is stacked pretty deep. I couldn't imagine running in there with a trail bike. For getting used to things and finding out how the whole track atmosphere/unwritten rules...that's a good thing on any bike I guess. Cool...

The +30 class here isn't to bad! I ran the +30C last sunday and there was only 8 of us and the normal +30 only had 3. during the Winter Ams I ran the +30 and there only 11 of us. and the 250C only had 12 in it. Now the +35 class where I have been racing is pretty stacked with anywhere from 12 to 25 people. But I have a year and a half before i can run it. LOL
I knew going in racing my 230 that I was gonna get spanked but I was out there to get seat time and see how the whole race thing worked as I had never raced before. I have since meet some great people to help me with my riding. One of them being a former co-owner of what is now Wonder Warthog racing.

Here is blast from my past pic of my 230 after front end converstion to a RM-250 front end.

    Nice...

I was meaning stacked as in with talent. I don't worry about number of people typically. It's all the pro card carrying and local MI fast guys seem to congregate in the +30 class. Plus, all the older retired pros seem to like that class as well (damn +40 guys still roosting me! ).

Anyway. What I should have said originally that even though the 230 will not compete against anyone of equal talent on a 125; that shouldn't stop anyone from getting out there and trying their best. If for any reason, get out there and find out what's what at the track. There's a lot to learn the first few times.

    Going riding Sunday, can't wait!!!!!!!!!

    Braaaaap!
