    Des Nations...

    by crfsonly » Mon Sep 11, 2006 10:23 pm

Anyone hearing any news on Ricky's condition after a very hard crash on Sunday? Obviously, if he's injured this will affect the des nations team which would be shame. the US would have had another very strong team and chance to win.

Full Disclosure on RC's Situation, as of Late Monday
    By Steve "TFS" Bruhn

Just got the full story from Tallahassee, where our man RC is not having a good day, but so far nothing is found that's keeping him from planning his race at the MXoN. What the holdup is as of this update is his shoulder hurts a lot and they haven't pin-pointed the cause.

As of this minute, he is being seen for the third time at a specialist.

RC really wants to race and they are sorry for leaving people hanging today, but they just don't have the answers themselves. There is no title strategy going on or any reason to be secretive.. RC's camp will keep you updated.

Due to the nature of his injury and the location, there is a lot of talk about the labrum area. These can freak you out for a couple of days in terms of pain, and range of motion, and things settle down.

He threw it away just after passing Bubba for the lead... on the downhill I believe.

Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael Recovering
    - press release -

BREA, Calif., (Sept. 12, 2006) – American Suzuki Motor Corp. (ASMC) announced today that Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ricky Carmichael is on the road to recovery after crashing in the first moto at the final round of AMA Toyota Motocross at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif., on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, and injuring his left shoulder.

“I’d just made the pass for the lead and was going through a bumpy, fast section of the track and just messed up,â€￾ said Carmichael. “I jumped up as quickly as possible and when I tried to pick up my bike, I realized that my shoulder was hurt. I could barely pick the bike up and when I finally did, I couldn’t pull in the clutch. My mind was racing because, for the first time in a really long time, I realized that I couldn’t continue the race. Right now, I am doing everything possible to get this shoulder ready to go. If I can’t ride at the Motocross of Nations, I hope everyone will give their full support to the rider that is chosen to replace me. I’m so disappointed that this has happened.â€￾

After the crash, the newly crowned AMA Toyota Motocross Champion was treated by the Asterisk Mobile Medical Unit and then flew home to Tallahassee, Fla., where he got an MRI. Initial results show some damage that doctors say will not require surgery. It is estimated that Carmichael will need at least three weeks of rehab before he can resume riding his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450. Carmichael begins rehab today at a sports clinic in Tallahassee.

“It’s too bad this had to happen right before the Motocross of Nations,â€￾ said Makita Suzuki Team Manager Roger DeCoster. “He wants to go, but he’s hurt. Right now, we’re just thankful for another great season with Ricky and for the two championships he’s brought home to Suzuki.â€￾

Since signing with Team Makita Suzuki Racing, Carmichael has also won the 2006 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Championship, the 2005 AMA Supercross title, the 2005 World Supercross GP title, the 2005 AMA Motocross title, the 2005 U.S. Open of Supercross and he led Team USA to victory in the 2005 Motocross of Nations. Overall, Carmichael has 15 AMA title and 17 career titles. He is also the only rider to celebrate two perfect seasons in AMA 250cc Motocross and a perfect season in AMA 125cc Supercross.

for those who were at glen helen you know how absolutely WICKED that track is. i can't even begin to describe all the challenging sections and jumps. glen helen is known for one feature called mt. st. helens, which is wicked steep and very long climb and decent. there were several hills with very fast decents...which means a lot of deep braking bumps towards the bottom. ricky hit these going very fast and lost control. i didn't see it but it sounded pretty bad.

on the back side they had a very big step up jump that was incredible to watch them jump. this was another place earlier where ricky passed james. james checked on the triple step up and doubled it and ricky tripled it.

i'm really surprised they didn't have more injuries with the difficulty level of the jumps and down hill sections. can't wait to see it on oln.

looks like he's out for des nations. that's too bad for ricky, suzuki, and all motocross fans.

    get beter soon ricky!

I actually got the impression that he would be able to ride the MXoN. Has there been any news this afternoon?
