    Chad Reed Goes to Honda?

    by motosicko » Sat Aug 29, 2009 8:31 am

Read this on RacerX. Do we really want Chad? He is fast, hopefully this years championship will bring out more of a better personality in him. He has grown up in that area substantially in the past several years. I couldn't stand him 2 years ago, but he has matured since his SX championship. I guess I could accept him as a "TEAM MATEY". :-k

Now here are some silly season updates from an anonymous reliable source.

    1.) Chad Reed to Honda.

2.) Ryan Dungey has re-signed with Suzuki. They have a new co-title sponsor which allows them to go racing next year. There will be one 250 rider, as well.

3.) Pourcel and Weimer have re-signed with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit and Tyla Rattray remains under contract. Dean Wilson picks up the fourth spot, while Stroupe and Morais are packing their bags.

4.) Muscle Milk signed on as the title sponsor of Joe Gibbs Racing, with Justin Brayton replacing Cody Cooper.

5.) Josh Hill to L&M for no salary. And he’s done for 2009 with the Yamaha factory team, which means he may be done there for good.

Also in rumorville, word has it that Sean Hamblin and Grant Langston are going to be entering a team into the series next year. Details are sketchy right now as to whether it’s going to be an existing team or a brand new one, but there have been serious talks with sponsors.

As much as I really enjoy seeing IT, Short, and Townley (where the heck has that guy been? He shouldn't be getting paid to sit out with an injury for this long..) and Millsaps, they need to get a GREAT rider. Short and IT have potential to win a championship, but I don't think it will happen very soon. Millsaps used to be good, but he just hasn't been there at all really (except for his moto win this year the one time). Chad might be good to have on the team, to help the other guys out a little bit. It seems like they aren't learning much from each other, or maybe they are learning to much. IT and Short seem almost glued together for most of the season. I don't know, I think it might be good to have him on the team.

IMHO, Chad Reed would be an asset to any team. Love him or hate him, he is a fast, consistent rider with immense ability. Like Carmichael stated recently.. When Chad has a bad day, it is 2nd or 3rd place. Can we say that for the current crop of Honda racers?

Yes, but we would have to change the word "bad" to "good"...

I agree Chad would be an asset. I dislike the guy greatly, but you have to give him props not only for his riding ability, but for his conditioning as well.

When he goes past our current crop of riders, he does it with very little effort. They could learn from him if they were willing...

I am not a huge Reed fan either, but something needs to change. Where has Millsaps been lately? What about Tedesco getting schooled by, well, just about everyone. Those guys have no heart whatsoever! I really like Andrew Short but even Tommy Hahn is beating him these days. I do wish him all the best with his health, but it is time to sign some guys that are headed for the podium. Did anyone notice Windham a couple weeks ago?... neither did I. They don't show show guys on TV that finish outside the the top 15. We missed our chance to sign Villopoto, but we do have Barcia. I am just getting frustrated with our "Factory" guys getting whipped by privateers.

I think Honda should be pretty pissed that Tommy Hahn is whooping up on all the Honda boys it seems like, considering he was the 250F factory rider for Honda before they dumped him. Now he isn't even on a great team and beating the Honda's. Barcia should be (and already is) an amazing rider as long as he doesn't hurt himself hangin in out as much as he does.

    Reed..:(

We saw the effects of Chad Reed's "leadership" with how RV handled Dungy this week. I don't recall seeing RV pull a move like that in the past. Maybe I didn't catch it. But seems similiar to what Reed did most of last year with James S. I hope this is just a rumor and Honda is smart enough not to taint itself with a rider like him.

That rumor was from a year ago.
