Hey guys, wondering if it's possible to swap frames from 2004 to 2005. And what's required to do so. Has anyone done this? I've picked up a street legal 2005 frame for my 04 crf450r. At first glance
I can see a few key differences, including subframe mounting etc. Any insight would be awesome thanks!

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

About the only way you can make it work is to use the 05 subframe and motor mounts and hardware , along with the 05 tank , i believe the radiators should swap , and the engine and wheels and forks , the shock needs to be measured as the clevis may be a different length , the swingarm chain guide mount will be different as will the linkage , so what you need is most of the 05 components to make the swap feasible, so in short for 04 parts
Forks = yes
Engine = yes
complete electronics must swap with engine
Wheel sets = yes

that's about it , airbox , swingarm , tank , subframe , plastics , exhaust system ,will not swap , even the seat is different

Thanks Jim, very insightful. Here's what I have: 2005
frame with engine mounts, seat, full plastics, pegs, lower triple clamp (which I've heard is slightly different as well) and full complete 2004 crf450r. So with a tank, airbox, and subframe I should be able to swap most if not all of the rest with a little fabrication? Any idea why the exhaust will not fit? You certain of the swingarm? When compared against my 05 crf250x it seems identical.

the mounts to the chain guide are different , and i believe the swingarm itself is slightly longer than the 04

It should be
02
03-04
05-07
08
09-10

etc
