2014 CRF450R Kill Switch issue

Hi,
Has anyone else ran into an issue with the functionality of the kill switch? Took the bike out for the first ride of the year this weekend and noticed it much more difficult than normal to compress the switch to shut off the bike. I'm assuming there is some sort of spring in there not sure if it can be repaired or just need a whole new switch?
It will still work after a few attempts at it but the distinguished 'push' of the button Is gone. Like to address this before I need it.
Thanks

What i have experienced is usually a issue with the switch grounding out and making it really hard to get the bike to start , then disconnecting the switch and it starts right up , its like it sticks in a grounded position , and if you "flick" it a few times , it will function normally , sometimes it works normally , sometimes the bike doesn't want to start
I have had to replace 3 kill switches in the last 2 years on my 450R due to that issues , but generally if the spring is binding up , its a sign that the switch is worn or possibly broken at the contact and should be replaced anyway , you do not want the switch to go bad in the middle of a jump or something causing a huge endo when the bike dies , and you dont want the switch not working when you fall over and the bike is lying on the throttle side revving with no way to shut it off
The cost of the switch is insignificant as opposed to the price of issues it can cause if left alone , if you suspect it to be faulty , then just be safe and replace it , its much safer that trying to "fix" it , and hoping the fix works

I have the EFI switch I don't think it works the same way. I looked quick and the OEM switch isn't available through Honda.

I've notified our provider of the fiche and they are going to look into it. I don't have an ETA of when it will be resolved but wanted to acknowledge the problem and let you know we are working on it.
Thank you for your patience.

Ordered a replacement and the issue was resolved. I plan on attempting to take apart the bad kill switch to see if there is any way to fix the switch in the case it happens to anyone else. Not sure if this was just a fluke but if it's common it will be nice to save $60 of its something easy.

Yea that is the only crappy thing about all this high tech stuff now days , its not made to "fix" , they want it to break and get your money
I am sure you are aware that if you buy a "bike" its about $8,000 roughly
If you buy that same bike in "parts" it will cost you about $12,000 -$15,000 , kinda sad when you think about it ...

Jim,
And that is why the dealer believes you are getting a bargain on a new bike and shouldn't try for a discount.
Yes definitely sad but unfortunately true.
I do appreciate that storing all those parts does cost money though.

Had a chance to play with the kill switch. It CAN be fixed by taking it apart. At least in my case. If you have the patience to split the switch apart, there is a small rubber/silicone cone that pushes a button when you press the kill switch button.
I am not sure of the orientation of the fat/skinny side of the cone when I disassembled. Judging by the wear in the cone I'm assuming it was fat side toward the switch. I swapped it so the nice clean small edge was facing the switch and it works again.
Not positive if the wear on the cone causes the issue or it somehow got dislodged off the switch button but like I said it works now.
Splitting the switch apart without breaking the tabs/clips is the only difficult part. [/img]
