I just picked up a very clean 2004 CRF450R and going through all the basic maintenance. I ordered a new chain and sprockets but want to verify which way the front countershaft should be mounted. Flat side in or out? I got the DID VT2 chain so i should not have any clearance issues.

    Great forum! Thanks

Depends on the brand. Typically the stamped lettering goes to outside. Make sure the chain guide is lined up with teeth, and the outer edge of crush washer is seated against flat part of sprocket.
