    07 cam Sprocket decompressor

    by BradyT88 » Thu May 14, 2015 2:09 pm

So I was riding my bike and it made a bad noise and died... Pulled the valve cover and found that the decompressor plunger broke and came out and got caught in one of the cam lobes stopping the camshaft. The camshaft appears to be fine, but it broke the holder.

Long story short all of the decompressor parts were lying around in there. From the looks of it I just need a new camshaft holder and decompressor plunger. But what about the cam sprocket? I can't find any info on the decompressor stuff on the sproket other than they seem to be one unit... Anybody have any info on how that stuff is assembled or should I just shell out the $100 for a new one...

Here's a pic of what I am talking about

Another option is to just install a whole new assembly from an older bike. Does anybody know if that works? To just pull the whole camshaft assembly from an 02-06 and bolt it into an 07-08?
