    Hubs, spacers, axles???

    by EKhatch » Sun Apr 20, 2014 10:20 am

I just picked up a used 06 CRF450R and would like to use the hubs from my 09 CRF250X on it if possible. Can anyone tell me what axles and spacers I would need front and rear to use the 250X hubs on the 450R.

    Thanks

The rear hub should be the same so you should be able to use the R parts , the front will need the X spacers and speedo cover and axle as far as i know , unless you get a speedo replacement spacer/cover (all it does is remove the speedo hookup sticking out but the rest of it will still be on the hub) , you do realize that the 250 rear rim itself is narrower than the 450R (the 18" to 19" does not matter) , but the width of the rim might be a issue if your going to be doing any jumping or anything serious , if your doing this for a extra set of wheels , then it might be a good idea to get a 2.15 ,18" rim to go on that X hub/spokes to hold up under the R , other than that , it should bolt up as i described

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I have the front axle and spacers as well as the speedo elimination spacer.

I am setting the bike up for flat track so it is actually going to get 19" rims laced up to both hubs. Sounds like all I need are some factory rear spacers and I will be set. The bike (the 450) came with some DNA wheels (rims/hubs/spacers) and I am not very happy with the quality especially with the spacers and I have a set of practically new 250X hubs so I am just going to use those instead.

Cool , then they should work fine , on another note , i was doing some research and found that i was incorrect on the 250X rear rim width , it is the same as the 450X at 18" and 2.15 , so the extra force from the 450 would not have been a issue although the 250R rim is 1.85 , but 19" , so it would have needed to be changed .... not that it matters in your situation , but its good info to know for future reference

Good info to know for sure and the fact that you continued to do your own research and came back to post your findings shows why this is such a great community. Thanks again. :D
