    Torque specs ; suspension

    by Trudeau89 » Wed Apr 16, 2014 12:53 pm

    Hi all,

Recently picked up a 2014 CRF450R. Sent out the suspension to get re valved and am expecting it to arrive back today. Unfortunately my service manual isn't scheduled to arrive until Monday or Tuesday.

I'd like to go riding this weekend so I have to come up with some other way to get all the torque specs associated with re installing the suspension.

I still have the service manual from my old bike (2009 CRF250R) I'm sure most haven't changed but I'd like to be sure before destroying a new bike.

Any help or a point towards online information would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Nick.

    Top tripple clamp
    Bottom tripple clamp
    Axel pinch bolts

    Lower shock
    Upper shock
    Upper sub frame
    Lower sub frame
    Exhaust clamp
    Mid pipe to frame
    Muffler to sub frame

    Think that's everything

Here's a link to the torque values listed in the service manual.

It's for a 450X but suspect the 450R will be the same for most.

I really hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here.

    Thanks,
Not sure if the X numbers would be exactly accurate. I don't think they did any of the subframe/exhaust updates.

I just reviewed the owners manual that came with the bike. There is actually a torque specifications section in the handbook.

These owners manuals sure have come a long way; I am pleasantly surprised how much info is actually in here.

I remembered them as being more of a safety manual in the past.
Looks like I'm good to go.

    Thanks anyway.
    Nick.
