Hey all, I'm new here and hoping you can help. Bought this bike with a bad clutch, replaced the basket, center hub, pressure plate and clutch. All was fine for 30 hours or so. This past weekend I was riding a trail and the bike would randomly hit 'neutral' regardless if the gear I was in. Made a bit if a grinding sound once it engaged again. About a mile away from my truck it stopped, and stayed in neutral. Tire spins in gear with a little resistance.

Fast forward to today, I pulled the clutch cover off and pulled the clutch out. Pulled out the center hub and basket, all looks fine, so I'm leaning towards a transmission problem.

Anybody have any idea what I'm up against? Never had a problem like this in my life! [/img]

I am guessing a bent shift fork or possibly a broken shift drum , aside from tearing the entire motor down to get at it , its not that hard of a fix , if cost is a big issue on buying new parts , you can usually get complete tranny gear/shift fork/shift drum setups on EBay for under $100

It will be something along the Main Shaft that is the issue , it could be what i mentioned or what i mentioned took out other forks , there are numerous possibilities , but the only way to decipher what it is , is to tear it apart and look

In the link below , part #1,2,3,4,5,6 are in the tranny and #6 is the Shift Drum , the rest of the parts are on the Clutch side of the case behind the clutch

On a side note , when you took the clutch out was the shift actuator centered ??

Under the clutch to the back end of the case is where the shift shaft that goes to your shifter comes thru , it is attached to a fork looking thing that has a spring , this is the gear detent , if it is not centered , it will be like its in neutral

Ah that sucks, I was really trying to avoid splitting it. The shift actuator is centered, yes
