    Hey sand.man,

    question for you, are you saying carnkcases in general are not repairable when it comes to welding or do you mean just these cases?

    Welding on cast aluminum that has spent it's life bathed in oil is very difficult, and the finished product is neither pretty nor strong.

    That tab for the cam chain guide is a critical piece, and being that it's so thin, it would be near impossible to weld a new piece back in place (mostly due to it being cast aluminum which welds very differently than billet/forged).

    It is also very close to the crank bearing location, and welding in that proximity would likely warp the journal for the bearing.

    As someone that is very confident in my own welding and fabrication skills, I personally would not attempt a repair on this.
