    Moto-Jack Rack review and "heads-up"

    by Monkeywrench » Thu Aug 26, 2004 10:12 pm

Hello from Southern New Jersey (it's nice this far down in Jersey) :D

This moto-jack rack is pretty neat.
I purchased one after reading a lot about it as well as other racks, and I was as impressed when I assembled it as when I read the reviews. It's pretty solid.

    Here's the heads-up
Check your hitch first - see if it's (almost perectly) flush with the back of the bumper. If it's not, a simple hitch extension is probably not a good idea (you probably don't need a whole foot either, which would put the bike waaay out behind your vehicle...)

My Dakota's hitch receiver was recessed under the back bumper about 5 inches. 5-lousy inches kept me from being able to use it right out of the box. Ended up welding on a short extension sleeve into the jack-rack tube, and then welded a piece of square 2" stock overtop of that which ends up being your short extension part which goes into the receiver.

If anyone would like pictures of how to extend it, I can e-mail you some. It turned out real good and since I only needed to extend it 5" there wasn't added wobble or stability issues.

2-thumbs up for the moto-jack rack.
A bit pricey, but when you consider the investment you place into a dirt hog, it really is an investment on its own. It makes a great workstand too.[/u]

I drive a 2000 Tacoma 4WD, I use a Shadowrider to haul my bike. It fits into my reciever hitch and then you just anchor the bike to it. I think their web address is www.theshadowrider.com. Well worth the money. :P

    we are very oldfashioned
we put the bikes on the pick-up
and we use a simple wooden board as a ramp

    but
it is a lot cheaper than your ways
