BBR Exhaust - Too Loud / Worth it?

    by SpdKlzU » Thu May 04, 2006 12:23 pm

Hi guys, I'm trying to get some feedback on an exhaust for my gf' '05 CRF-150. It looks like the BBR one is the most popular, but I had a couple of questions:

    * Is it too loud? - I want to make sure she can ride everywhere. The fact they sell a quiet insert makes me think it's REALLY loud.

    * Is there a real performance gain?

    * How does it compare to an uncorked stocker?

    * Is it worth the money?

    Thanks in advance!

I have one on the way right now. I may not be able to tell you alot about it compared to stock as I've only had the bike a very short time and not ridden it much before I started modifying it (had to do some maintenance that the PO had neglected for quite a while, so went ahead and ordered some other things for it to install while I had stuff apart). BTW, mine had stock exhaust, I believe uncorked, but it also had a very bad exhaust leak at the headpipe/muffler junction. Basically the muffler wasn't pushed fuly on the head pipe and the clamp was not tightened. So it was loud as all Hades with a (mostly)stock exhaust.

The BBR sounds better than the stocker that was on my 150. It's quieter at idle, but does get loud as it revs. Still, it's a better quality sound than what I had - remember I had a bad exhaust leak before the muffler - and overall I'd say subjectively its quieter. But I don't know how loud a proper stock set-up is that's been uncorked. Anyway, I like the BBR.
