    Rev limiter

    by crf150-14 » Thu Nov 18, 2004 5:27 pm

if i were to get an aftermarket rev limiter, would it hurt the bike? it ways it gets rid of the stock ~8600RPM limit and allows it to get up to ~9600RPMs. I just didnt know if the 9600 RPMS would hurt the bike by allowing it to go up to high?

no it won't hurt your bike...the rev limiter name is 'limiting' what people think it does. yes, it will extend the rev limit but it also changes the ignition curve which causes the bike to rev quicker. so, the engine will get to rpms faster as well as go further with them.

good luck and let us know if we can help you get one.

no problem...the one that is the most popular with our members is the BBR rev box. you can check them out here:

throttle curve...ignition curve...it's how quickly the rpms (pulses/ignition/spark) ramps and how far it will go before it maxes out.

How much more of an RPM increase does a rev box give? If stock is 9800 RPM does it increase by 500 or 1000? Or does it eliminate the limiter all together?

More RPM's (the wheel goes around more times per minute) . . . Quicker throttle response . . . faster bike

willflyforfood...according to bbr it "Eliminates the 9800 rpm rev-limiter of the OEM ignition" You could read this two ways...so, I'm not sure. It will have a limit of course but what that is I'm not sure.

The White Brothers CRF230 rev limiter claims to extend the RPM range by 2000 RPMs.

Put the BBR's on my boyz 150s. Definitely worthwhile and worth the money.

Running one with a Big Gun and a 115 main jet, the other with the baffles out of the stock pipe and a 110. Both with the needle raised a notch (clip down a notch).

Big difference in what they can do with em as opposed to stock.

For info - BBR does now make a specific application for the 150. Same specs, just in a bigger box so it fits instead of having to be taped up.
