    428 chain conversion

I haven't seen this topic on this website, so I hope I'm not re-hashing an old discussion. I've read that the Sidewinder 428 chain conversion will add quite a bit of power to my '03 CRF150 playbike. It's no question that the stock sprocket and 520 O-ring chain a way more than necessary for the bike. I've since read that the 428 chain conversion is too expensive to justify the necessary maintenance vs. the power gain. It was suggested that I just replace the stock rear sprocket with something lighter (and less expensive) and call it a day. I know this topic can get techical quick, but I want to put together a fun/faster bike that'll easily beat my little neighbor's '04 CRF150 when he tries to throw roost at me.

it's just a chain set with less weight...so, no way to ADD power. it will decrease the amount of power the chain soaks up so, it leaves the difference for other things like foward motion. however, i seriously doubt you'd notice a huge difference with this mod. if you were going for a total performance upgrade it would certainly be one of the many things you'd look to do but this alone is not going to make all the difference in the world.

with the 150's your best bet is a big bore kit, rev box, and free flowing air filter and exhaust. If you want to put more into it you can get a high performance cam and springs and carb.

Good luck and let us know what you end up with and how you like it.
