oil filter change question

This past weekend I bought an '06 CRF150F for my daughter that is moving up from a CRF100. Her younger sister gets to move up to the 100, so it's a win/win.

Although it's 10 years old, the bike looks like new and probably doesn't have 5 hours on it. Still, I wanted to change the oil and filter, but can't find the filter location to save my life.

I don't have a manual for it yet (got one on the way), but I looked up the parts fiche and can only find what looks like a square screen. Unfortunately, the fiche wasn't much help with understanding the location.

So does this bike has a changeable filter or not???

There is no oil filter to change on that bike. That's why you can't find it :D It has what is called a "centrifugal filter", which is built in. You simply wipe it clean. There is also a strainer screen in the bottom of the crankcase, but you have to take the crankcase cover off to get to it (not sure which side). You'll probably find that it doesn't need to be cleaned, but you'll never know if you don't check.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.

Thanks for the info' Mossman.

Why in the world can't they just install a regular filter? Now that's gonna be in the back of my mind every time I change the oil.
