Start with the basics, fuel, air, compression, spark, and timing.
If it quit suddenly without making really bad noises it's usually spark. Kill switch?

Just all of a sudden quit running: no bog, no sputter, no poor running, then quit? Just....quit running? If so it sounds electrical. Does it kick over? Yes? you may be in luck. If not (the engine is locked up) Major mechanical issues have occurred. If not locked up or kicks over without with metallic scraping sounds... Check spark to the plug. None? check all connections between kill button and plug. No? have stator checked. Yes there is spark?...than check fuel flow, turn off gas at the tank unhook fuel line at the carb, open gas at tank.... good steady fuel flow?...No? plugged fuel line (Dare I say out of gas) yes there is fuel flow?.... remove carb and clean/replace jets. Clean/replace air filter.
Typically with sudden loss of compression there has been some catastrophic internal event that is characterized by unmistakable metallic scrapping noises coming from the engine or sudden clank/clunk and engine siezure. If it kicks over check compression. check that timing is correct you may have had the cam chain jump/slip this usually causes parts to move in the wrong sequence and collide....piston and valves and usually locks things up.
Did I miss anything? Someone ese chime in. Hope its something cheap and easy. These motors are pretty reliable.

could be something simple like the vent in the gas cap being clogged or something complex like an electrical component. you'll need to do some basic troubleshooting and then provide us more information. as mentioned check for fuel, spark, compression, timing, etc.

did you check to see if there is any gas in it?
