CRF150 jetting. Hope to do it right the first time.

It looks to me like our 07' CRF-150 has the fuel screw or air screw blocked off. Can that little cover be removed? What a lousy design! What is this "d" tool that I keep reading about? Is that the tool for adjusting the hidden screw once the cover is removed?

The only problem that I see at this point is: The idle tends to hang "up" she kind of revs a bit and then drops down. I tried adding various amounts of choke to see if it is a "lean" issue but couldn't verify it with the choke. Still need to pull the plug and take a look. Also, give it a good carb cleaning just to play it safe. Is this idle that I am describing...what people are talking about when they say these things don't idle well?

Also, we live at 1200 above sea level. Considering my elevation...... give me your thoughts please on this: the typical Mods:

I'm going to remove the exhaust silencer leaving the screen intact.

So...do some guys drill 1/4 inch holes in the end cap on the screen? Is that the spot to drill?

I'd also remove the plug in the top of the air box.

What jets should I get for my elevation?

Would a 110 main and 42 pilot? Be a good starting point? Maybe stick with the stock needle jet?

I'll probably change the rear sprocket to something a little bigger at some point too. Or drop to a 12 tooth up front.

It's my daughters bike but I get on it from time to time so I'd just like to wake it up a bit.

Can't believe that Honda didn't put a kick starter on the thing! BOOOOOO!

Thanks guys for any input that you have.

welcome to CRF's Only. the hanging idle is likely because of lean jetting. you need to fix the fuel screw situation. most use our fuel screw as a replacement for the stock fuel screw so you can adjust it by hand. next get our Power Up jet kit. Has the Honda Power Up needle and supporting pilot and main jets. The other mods, air box and exhaust will help as well.

    again, welcome!
