Im sorry if this is a silly question but, are you supposed to check the oil level with the bike resting on the kick stand or are you supposed to hold the bike up right?

Hold the bike upright, level, pull the dipstick, clean and reinsert BUT do not screw in, remove and read level.

Warm bike up, kill the engine and wait three minutes before checking oil from cold.

Thats how i do it. I only wait a min or 2 though after warming it up to recheck.
