OK, if no one else wants to answer, here's my thoughts.
You'd be ok with either bike. They're both fun, just get some instruction from a friend who has some experience so you know what you're doing. Then, gain some skills and gradually you'll be able to get the full potential out of either bike.

I'd look for a good used one at a reduced price, if I were you. In that way, next year you can sell it for close to what you paid and move up to a bigger bike. Or if you save money by getting a used one, then you'll have some dough for mods, like a pipe, etc.

all i have to say is, the 230 is kinda heavy. both bikes are little heavy, but the 230 is heavier then the 150. i have the 150. its a great little bike to start on. it too is my first bike. but ive only had it for about 6 months, and im ready to move up to the 250x. ive had a little expiernce biking though(ive grown up around bikes). if i were you. id go for the 230, and when u feel like your ready for some more power. get a pipe. if you get the 150, youll want more power sooner than you think. and you cant get much more power out of it. so go get the 230. you'll like it much better.

yea ^^^ is right. The 150 is frickin heavy. Mine is 230lbs. It gets pretty tough to pick up if ur in mud or off balance.

In my oppinion the 150f would be a better bike to start on. I have the race version (CRF150r expert) if you had some years on you this would be the choice bike. the ive seen more adults on the 230 than on the 150. and the 150 is a heavy bike but not to bad. the 230 is only like 2" taller an has a 6 speed tranny compaired to a five. and they^^ are right the 230 will have mor power. they are close but if you plan to have this bike for a long time then i would chose the 230. if for only a year the 150. 8) :)

having a heavy bike isn't all that bad... haha... I had a 150 and it was a tank now i have a 250 and i can throw it around cause it is lighter so it made me a better rider whe i got a lighter more powerful bike
