Difficulty warming up a crf150!!!

My girlfriend's crf150 does not want to warm up. I start the bike on the first kick (using the choke), and let idle for a couple minutes. If she turns the throttle, the bike quits. We have to take off 1/2 to 3/4 throttle run a lap, and then the bike will be fine for the rest of the day. Any suggestions??

well when i worm mine up i put the choke on full and when it makes a kick i put the choke on half. then it will usally start within 2 kicks. when it starts i let it run for like 10 seconds then i put the choke off. let it set for a minute or two. then if i can touch the throttle and it picks it up im good to go.....
hope this helps

I have the same problem with my wifes 150. So i just start it and let it idle why she is getting her gear on and then its ready too go.

Both the 150F and 230F are known to be cold blooded. We always give our 230F about 3 minutes of warm-up time on the kick stand, then it's good to go.

yes but his problem seems to be with adjusting idle screw. thats why with the choke and throttle, it still isnt enough to warm up ;)

-my 50 cc was in the same situation and i adjusted the idle screw until it had enough gas where it didnt die anymore and to the point where the idle sounded just right,- not too high or low -and it runs great and hasnt died since.

good luck ;)

Thanks for the information. First, I'll let the bike warm up for approx. 3 minutes, and if this doesn't work I'll check the idle. The idle seems appropriate as is, but we'll see. I'll do anything to fix this problem. Thanks again.

Oh, one other thing. Before you hit the starter button on the 230F or kick the 150F try this.

1. Set the choke to full on.
2. Twist your throttle completely 3 times .
3. Hit the starter/kicker.

We've found this to work well. If you've rejetted your bike, especially the pilot jet, you will need to de-activate the choke quickly as you'll get way to much gas.
