I usually run pro Honda GN4 4 stroke oil in my 150 but my manual says i can use HP4. I think the only difference is that one is synthetic(hp) and one is not(gn). any advice on how the two will effect performance will be greatly appreciated.

hondafan...are you sure you want to ignite a 'which oil is better' war? there are as many opinions about that as there are oils.
the most important thing having to do with oil and dirt bikes is changing it frequently. this is even more true with air cooled bikes (read: F series and XR's) and high rev'ing CRF's (read: R and X series). I know guys that run Mobile 1 and swear buy it...they get it for .99 cents a quart and walmart and others who won't put anything in their bike that is under $5 a quart.
one suggestion is to not mix it up on a regular basis. personally i break in my bikes with gn4 and then run hp4 and change it regularly.
let the war begin!
crf's only

cought me, I am a walmart customer
was back in time when it was eighter noodles OR gasoline I fed my beemers, later my XR600 the cheap oil our trucks at work got
ever since I rather change oil more often, but still use cheap mineral oil, even high-browed brats like the Husaberg did fine
some expensive oils can even damage your bike, the early GasGas' plastic help what is the correct term for the outer part of a bearing? bearing shell???did not like Castrol GTX (I think it was) it would swell and eventually kill your crankshaft

The only bad thing is i went to buy 3 qts of HP4 and it came up to almost 30$ NOT GOOD considering i do not race or anything. But if it will be any better for my motor i would be willing to do anything. My honda salesperson suggested i stick with GN4 for the same reason, i dont race and GN4 is a little less expensive.
*going to stick with GN4. But still what is everyone elses opinion on which oil is best?

hondafan....you'll be fine with gn4 if you change it regularly. it's good that you are thinking about oil...a lot of people with 150f's don't think about maintenance at all. they treat them like i treat my lawnmower! it's a honda too...only i don't treat it like my other hondas!
