...I had the flywheel lightened on my XR400 and it made it more responsive without making it a "staller"...I modified my son's CRF and it really is impressive now. I didn't need to lighten it's flywheel, but if I wanted to go one more step, I'd get the flywheel lightened and get a Rev box, but as the bike is now, it really isn't necessary. BEFORE you consider the flywheel, check out Powroll's websight. Here's what made my son's bike respectable: High compression piston 12:1 (stock displacement), cam, 26mm Mikuni, oversize header pipe, they offer a tuned end cap for the stock pipe that makes it BARK with authority, AND...get rid of that super restricting 520 O-ring chain in favor of the 428 (non-O-ring) chain and sprocket conversion...in fact, the 428 conversion will give it the feel of a lighter flywheel. HAVE FUN!
