MY SON HAS A 2003 XR100 WITH A CHM PIPE,AIRBOX MODS AND JETTED. IT RUNS GREAT FOR A 100 BUT HE WILL BE 13 IN SEPTEMBER AND HE IS NEEDING MORE POWER TO KEEP UP WITH ME. I WAS THINKING OF A 150F BUT I AM NOT SURE THIS WILL GIVE HIM MUCH MORE POWER. I WOULD LOVE TO BUY A 150R BUT THEY ARE RED STICKED HERE IN CALIFORNIA. IS THE 150F(AIR COOLED) A WAIST OF TIME? I WOULD PUT A PIPE AND JET ALSO. ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR NEXT SIZE UP? NEEDS TO BE GREEN STICKED!

I only ask because if he is tall for his age then you could go for a 230 or 250. Maybe the 250X with a lowering link until he gets a little taller. If he is anything like me, once I turned 13 I got much stronger and taller.
The 250X I believe is green stickered. This bike would fit him for quite a while instead of getting a 150F which he may grow out of in a year or two.
A lot of people like the 230. Cheaper than a 250. Seems bullet-proof. Only thing is it is heavy, heavier than the 250X.

Then he would want my bike (250x) and i just got it! I did let him ride it, just a bit tall at this time and dad doesn't want to share that much yet! your probally right though. thank you for the input. Have you ridden a 100 and the 150f?

my brother-in-law used to have an 02 XR100R, i got my 04 CRF 150F before he traded, and it seemed to have more umph than the 100. Comparing them, the 150 accelerates quicker, lands jumps a helluva lot better, and the front disc brake worked awesome.
