Key switch

Can you take out the key switch and if you can, how do you do it

I've heard this can cause the battery to go dead after about a week on the CRF150.

haven't heard of that happening and really not sure how it could as their would be nothing consuming electricity.

First off Hi, and thanks to everyone. I have been lurking for some time, and have found this site to be very valuable.
I have been playing around with my daughters 06 crf150f and I tried to disconnect the key switch also. I found that there is a small current draw when the key is on, or when you cross those two wires to bypass the key. Therefore by connecting those two wires, it would put a small load on the system and kill the battery eventually.
I suspect that the draw is the current that closes a relay for the starter solenoid. I do not have a wireing diagram to study, but if anyone has one, or knows where I can download one, I would appreciate it.
I also disconnected that annoying, neutral safety switch. It was very easy and I found no load on the battery when I did it.

this is good information. perhaps the best thing to do is to REPLACE the key with a switch. of course this would require the operator to remember to turn off the switch to avoid the dead battery the next ride.

To wire in a toggle switch would i only have to use the red and black wires to complete the circuit?? Will leaving to other two wires disconnected cause the battery to still die??

Just as an FYI, I also found that leaving the key on will drain the battery. It didn't make sense to me either, but there is some draw in the system. If you're going to remove the key and don't end up with some other way to interrupt the circuit, then you'll need to get a battery tender and hook it up between rides...

didn't work as only two wires run to the switch on a 2009 CR150F. Any ideas?
