    BBR (Buyers Beware, Run!)

So I'm on a black diamond at metcalf and I try to shift up while in an uphill sandy area. To my shagrin my shift lever just shoots up, and stays up. I stay in first and because I dumped the clutch BACK into first gear I spin my tire and stop motion. It was in a narrow area so it didn't tip over, it just kinda rested against the wall with the footpeg. So I immediately begin screaming curses, like you're supposed to when stranded, and decide to walk back to my truck, in midday heat. Surprisingly I make it back, took about an hour have a big gulp from my soda, pack up my helmet and tool case and head back to the bike. Another hour and a half later I'm back at the bike. I take off the BBR lever which is "STRONGER AND LIGHTER THAN THE STOCK LEVER" (BBR Motorsports) and it is completely stripped! The inside looks just as smooth as glass! Wonderful! Another hours work and I get my bike turned around and down the sandy whoops to an area where I can first gear bump start it. I head back to my truck and call it a day. What the hell is with this lever!? Doesn't this company build RC's mini SX bikes? I'd be pretty worried if I were him. The lever only has two rides on it. Anyway, not I've got to wait till BBR comes back this monday to file a complaint or fifty. Here's some pics.

    This honda part is fine.

Something's wrong here... Stronger and lighter?
    Image
This is the stocker.... Weaker and heavier?

In summarization, perhaps I got a defective part, we'll have to wait till monday to see. I'll update this thread then.

If only honda made a 1/2 inch longer shifter! Then I would really be living it up.

I purchased one of these shortly before your first post. I hope yours was a mfg defect, from your pics it does not look that way. Keep us posted on how BBR reacts to this issue.

I think I will run a longer bolt thru to a lock nut, just in case.

Mine was all the way tightened, it fits nicely. It just kinda... Did not hold up. At all.

I got a bunch of BBR parts on my 100 and they have yet to disappoint me. I don't have the shifter from them but i probably should have gotten it a long time ago my stock one has been through hell but it still holds up strong.

So the dudes back at BBR are more than willing to replace my shift lever, that's pretty sweet. As someone on thumpertalk said, one of his BBRs have been on for like two years now, so in all likelihood this won't be happening again! Happy endings.

Satisfied - You may want to modify your post title. Not saying its a huge thing, but advising buyers to beware base on a bad part is a little extreme. Especially when they are more than willing to make sure you have a new one soon. Maybe something like "What's up with my BBR shifter?"

Satisfied customers and making money are synonymous. Something Chaparral Motorsports does not understand.
