    Adjusting Idle...

    by satisfied » Fri Apr 13, 2007 4:30 pm

I was just working on my idle for the longest time and can't seem to get it right. I've been trying to adjust it properly, but it just won't idle. All it does is starts on choke and requires throttle to keep it running, as soon as I turn choke off, or detent it, it dies. I've tried on both sides of the RPM spectrum (A million turns to the left and a million turns to the right) and everywhere in between and just can't seem to get it right. Yes the bike was warm, I rode it about 10 minutes with no idle, jusst holding the throttle slightly before I tried. What am I doing wrong?

Your pilot jet is clogged. Remove it and clean it well.
    Problem solved.

Can't speak for certain for the 06's but on the 05 150f you need to get the snorkel off the air box go to at least a 110 main jet and go up 1 size on the pilot the 05 had a 40 for a pilot jet

my combo on the wifes 150f is :
    snorkel removed from air box
    115 main jet
    42 pilot jet
stock needle in the 4 th notch
fuel screw set at just over 1 1/2 turns out
drilled a few holes in the baffle of the exhaust to help it breathe a little better without making it loud .

This seems to give the best starting and the idle is much more consistent no more chasing it up and down

before I messed with things I had the same symptoms you were describing , had to stay on choke for 10 minutes at least and the idle would be all over the place
and you always had to hold the throttle part way open or it would stall , not much fun for the wife .
