I think you should go ahead and go with the 250X, i came off of a 150F and had no problem making the transition. I am 5'10 and weigh 130lb and i have no problem flat footing both of my feet so i think you would be ok in the height department. The power for me is great b/c im so light, i never find myself wanting more power unless im on a long fireroad or something of the sorts. All in all the 250X is a a great bike, and the suspension rocks. Go for the 250X you won't be disapointed!

Kathy is 5'6" tall with a 34" inseam. She fits this bike perfectly. If you look in the Photo Album under Members, I recently posted a picture of both of our bikes at a trailhead in the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon.

Notice how much I've lowered my 250X (2.25") so that I can get on the thing!

ok because i am 5'5" and i really dont want to get the 150 because of its weak power and how quickly i will want to get rid of it. do you think this is the right decision? i also saw another picture that you posted with her standing flatfooted-ish on the bike. did you increase the sag on the suspension or is that stock? Thank you

blink, do you have a bike/experience on dirt bikes? if not. i suggest getting the 230 and getting the lowering kit. the 150 is too wimpy! the 250X may be too powerful a jump as well as financially!

the 230 is a great bike for beginners 8)

    Blink,

We set the rear race sag at 3" with her all geared up. In the picture you refer to, she is actually in a slight depression. Normally, she can get the balls of both feet on the ground, but she can't "flat foot" the bike.

The 230F is a great all around bike and for the money, it's really hard to beat. Also, now that it's been out for 3 years, you can find some really good buys on used ones.

With about $25 in jetting an airbox mods, this bike will come alive. We've added extra bling as you can see from the photo's we've posted, but you don't need it to enjoy the bike.

ive gotten used to my 230 much too fast and now want more power! maybe a 450X. my dad said i better last several years on the 230 though  its expensive to keep changing he says :x . at first he wanted to get me a 150 i said nooo0  and i bugged and bugged for a 230 because i knew id get used to the 150 even faster :? . all the other bikes are too expensive/too big because i just came off a 50cc at the time. if i new id get used to the 230 this quick id have just waited for a 250x. but it costs a lot more  oh well, a 230 is better than a 150! and better than a 50cc (what a joke) that bike is for me

ive only ridden my new 230 for only 15 hours and it doesnt bring that thrill it first did, the first few hours on it! a 450 sounds awesome, and i know never get bored or want more power!

i guess the quest for power is endless until you reach the 450! the 450 is the power 8) im amazed at how quick i adjusted to my 230 from a 50cc  i want a 450 so much! :x

 for a 450x maybe i need a job

what class do you race your 150 in I looked into my district rules and I would have to run a 125 class which I thought was unfair I when Im at the local track I can keep up with 85s but 125s leave me in the dust

For the past few years now, many of us have hoped that Yamaha would release the YZ150F that they have been working on. From the photo's I've seen, it's basically a KX100 or CR85E type chasis/suspension with a new, high compression engine.

It ought to be just the thing in the 80/85 class, and with a few mods, like a side stand, spark arrestor, etc., we vertically challenged (short folks) might have a bike we could acutally ride off the track and be able to touch the ground!

how did your 150 stand against 85s what skill level did you race at I went to an ametuer race in mexico NY as a spectator and the 85 expert kids were all nailing this 60 foot tabletop and the leaders were jumping 15 or 20 feet past the landing :!: (downhill) It was crazy how fast thy were Ive been to nationals but some of these kids are like 12 and 13
