    Battery Question

    by James1967 » Thu Dec 21, 2023 8:39 pm

I have a 2009 Honda CRF230F. I wanted details about the bikes ability to recharge its battery. I bought it used a few years back and the battery that came in it died out after a few years. I replaced it and hope the new one lasts about 2-3 years. I have a nice trickle charger I used on the old battery and few times but have not had to use yet with the new one.

Please confirm if this bike is supposed to recharge its battery during riding and if so, how much riding for instance. I usually take it out for a quick ride every Sunday. The routine path I ride is exactly 2.5 miles long so that would be the usual/minimal ride. Is that enough to charge it back up or do I have to ride it around even more? Are there technical details I can read about this anywhere?

I have 3 other bikes too. At worst, I ride each of them every week on the same 2.5 mile route.

There is a charging circuit, but the trickle charge is a good idea especially in colder weather.
Not sure if that distance would recharge after starting.

It starts,it runs,it gets to where all CRFs can get to without the valve or valve plate dramas
