2013 crf230f running lean on bottom

    by js0102 » Sat Mar 23, 2013 8:56 pm

I have a 2013 crf230f with a major bottom lean issue which shows whenever I wick the throttle. I removed the air box snorkel and removed the end of the exhaust core.and threw 13 47 gearing. I am currently running a 135 main and a 48 pilot and 3 turns on the mixture screw and the crfsonly needle clip in 5th position from top. It seems a hair rich in top but very bottom is super lean and poppy. The only time it seems happy on the bottom is with a 50 pilot.dies.this seem correct or is this horribly wrong?

we highly recommend our PowerUp kit. this comes with a new POwerUp needle and main and pilot jets needed for correct and improved jetting. our fuel screw makes adjusting the fuel screw easy without tools.

I am running the power up kit, and also 500-1500 altitude and current temperature between 25 and 50 for current winter riding days.

i see that now...missed the "crfsonly needle". the needle should be in the middle clip position. change this and report back.

Put the 50 pilot back and did about 25 miles of single track and it was horrible it sputters all over bottom around 1/8 throttle. But on spark plug check it was horribly rich.

as mentioned the correct clip position is the middle clip position. adjust the clip position as mentioned and report back.

with the needle now in the middle clip position go back to the recommended 135 main and the 45 pilot.
