    WTH!

Cruising along about 40mph (gearing 14/50) on my dual Sport 240 with Poweroll cam. Approaching a stop light pulled in the clutch and clicked it down a gear. It just died No big let out the clutch to bump start it nothing just kept freewheeling. I plulled off the street.Gas on; Check. Gas in tank; Check. I pushed the start button; starter spins but doesn't engage. Click it thru the gears; smooth: Ease clutch out and push the bike in gear. some resistance but doesnt feel like the engine is turning over. like the transmission is not connected to the crank/flywheel. The countershaft spins; chain rotates and no slop in shaft
There was no drop in engine performance prior to the incident, no unusual sounds; everything seems free and smooth moving. Valves were a little out (loose) oil fresh and appropriate volume
I haven't torn into it yet I'm trying to focus on individual systems rather than shotgun it.
    Any ideas?

    Oooohhhh Noooo.
If the chain is driving the output shaft when in gear it should turn the motor over.

If it does not turn the motor over I would be first pulling clutch cover off.

If the starter spins but doesn't turn motor over, well it is all driven on the same side under the clutch cover.

So either the clutch isn't clutching or there is a gear problem in primary drive/starter gear.

I have seen the clutch nut come undone and lose drive, but the motor still runs, mmmmm.

    Good luck

I am working and on call about 75hrs a week currently. I dropped it off at my mechanic buddy's shop. He did the big bore/cam install. If it's anything having to do with his work he will make it right and I can get some much needed sleep.
I will keep ya posted as soon as I find out anything.

The verdict is in....Cam gear bolt failure. Fortunately it did minimal damage. Apparently occurred at the end of the exhaust stroke with intake closed and exhaust valve almost closed. Slightly bent exhaust valve, little mark on the top of the piston. Im dumping the Powroll cam, getting all new valve train. Replacing the Powroll cam with the more streetable BBR.
