I bought this 05 230F used. Sat for almost 5 years before I got my hands on it. I thoroughly cleaned the carb more than once. It continues to want to leak gas from the overflow tube. I know it has something to do with the float. If taken the bowl off and manually pushed up the float and it stopped the flow of gas. The needle valve and seat seem to be ok. I have adjusted the float a couple times thought I had it fixed. I rode it around the yard no leak!! I pulled it in the garage, let it idle for a min, and it started to bog down and die. Guess what?? It started leaking gas again!!! I don't know what to do.

replace the float valve just to eliminate this as a possible source of the problem (over time the rubber tip can harden). also the float valve seat may need cleaning. check with a magnifying lens to make sure there's nothing that would interfere with the valve. if all is right with the valve then turn your attention to the float and float height. make sure the float moves freely and the float height is correct.

I haven't looked yet to see, but is the float a solid material or hollow brass? If it's brass, remove it and give it a shake to see if it has sprung a leak and become partially filled with fuel. I have had
this problem 1/2 dozen times over the years with various carbs, even a brand new performance carb for my truck, so while you are looking at the needle and seat again.... Goodluck.

Try replacing the O ring on the seat. There should be a screw holding the seat in, take the screw out then pull the seat out. I have seen this on several bikes lately, probably the ethanol in the gasoline.
