my bike keeps dying randomly :(

About 2 weeks ago i bought a '04 230f, i rode it the day i got it and encountered no problems whatsoever. BUT, i took it out to go riding today, and about every 5 minutes, it randomly started sputtering, and eventually died. I noticed that this especially happened after i really got on the throttle, and then as i would coast and slow down, the bike would die. i turned my idle up, but it didn't fix anything
. The gentleman i bought it from said something about running fuel stabilizer through it at all times? would this help? any suggestions are greatly appreciated! THANKS!

I would make sure you have clean fresh fuel.
Make sure when you turn on the fuel tap you get a good flow out of the hose to the carby.
The filter at the tap could be clogged.
See how that goes and let us know or the vent for the talk is blocked.

As a rule, if it will run fine until the rpms are raised and then it sputters, coughs, lurches etc, but then if allowed to idle or be shut down for a minute and it runs fine again, it is a fuel problem. Usually starvation. One thing I would check since the previous owner suggested stabalizer in the gas would be to drop the bowl off the carb and be sure there is no built up waxing or dirt holding the needle to the seat above your float. Also gives a chance to clean any dirt from the bowl which could lodge in a jet and give similar problems. Good luck.

if it has an aftermarket gas cap vent make sure it is working correctly and venting air into the tank.

The vent for the tank is not clogged, I took it apart and it flows smoothly and evenly. I took the carb loose from the bike and then dropped the bowl off..and what do you know..there was a BUNCH of sediment in there. I got all that cleaned out, put the bike back together, and rode for a few minutes. I did not notice any problems! I had to ride relatively easy tho because I was on my street and I cannot ride behind my house or anything like that.. I am going to take her out for a legit ride here in the next few days, and I will get back to you guys on how she runs. Thank you so much for the help so far.

I will check about the aftermarket gas cap vent, although I don't believe it has one. Thanks!
