Just picked me a couple Ballistic Batteries for me and my wives crfs. I installed the battery in mine first, and the 4 cell (12ounces) fit quite nicely into the stock battery box (plus some foam the battery was shipped with) I bent the negative connector to help route the line better, did no t like the position, so i bent it back and "snap" off came the connector. I went to my tool box and grabbed a automotive battery cable I had and modified one end to fit the battery and mounted the other end to the frame.(stock routes to the starter and the bolt is not easily accessible unless the exhaust is removed) My bike has the power up kit and was always hard to start when cold. I turned the gas on, hit the starter and to my disbelief the damn thing fired right up, idled and ran fine..... tonight i will purchase another ground for the wives bike (bone stock always starts runs great) very pleased with the results... so far.

we are both a Shorai and Ballistic Battery dealer. however, so far we only stock and promote the Shorai battery since it is less expensive and from our review and others performs as well or better than the Ballistic Battery. i'm wondering if we should change this and stock both? what were the deciding factors for you selecting the Ballistic Battery over the Shorai?

i have added the ballistics to our catalog and have them in stock tomorrow. we'll let Shorai and Ballistic battle it out!

The install for the wives crf went really well. bought a generic battery cable from the auto store (12" worked perfectly, slightly modified) routed to a motor mount. I think the gauge wire helps as the wives bike started right up. we didnt have much a winter here in chicago but her bike hadnt been started since november, and started right up!!!!

I have both. I went with the Ballistic in the 250 simply to allow some additional storage in the tray - we keep 5 CO2 cartridges and the nozzle right next to the battery. This required the battery terminals to point to the rear, and in turn I felt compelled to protect the sub-frame against arching and I also heated/molded the rear fender just a bit to allow a better fit of the terminal. If your putting the battery in sideways (and essentially not gaining any usable space), or putting it in a 450, the Shorai is certainly the better option.

this is one thing that is nice about the shorai are the terminals. just like a standard battery. the space savings on the 4 cell does make since if you are going to use it for storage.

i think the ground wire is too small a gauge wire
and an easy fix. i havnt riden the bikes to give any
cereal eval. but both bikes started easier than ever,
since the new batteries and ground wire installs.
i plan on riding more this year so i will keep this
post updated as to my opinion of these batteries.
