    starting help

    by gpincelli » Fri Sep 10, 2010 11:11 am

03 230f. Has ran well since I put new air filter in. I push the magic button and nothing happens..no clicking, no turn over, just nothing. I have taken apart the push button assembly: looks alright. I have charged battery on trickle charger for ~24hrs. Help...

Yes. I read about this fuse on the forums. I am, however, new to the sport and still learning. It is a 7.5amp, but where is it located. Any suggestions on manuals so I don't need to bother this forum with the easy stuff? Tks for the speedy reply.

There was some debris in the battery box. But fuse is in tact. I tightened batt terminals. Still nothing when I push button. Beginning to think battery is hose. Taking to a friends for some beers and to tear it apart. He has the proper tools. Tks for your help. I will let you know how it turns out.

Ok. I checked voltage across batt terminals: 10.5V. Is this enough juice to crank? I would have thought so. We put a charger on it and jumped it. Fired right up. I bought used and have no idea how old battery is. Probably just buy new battery that way I know what I have and its cheap piece of mind. Unless of course y'all have any better options.

Key was turned to on position BTW. An no not a dumb question. I killed the battery the first week I owned cuz I was trying to run with no fuel...sure would be cheap if it worked though. Tks.

Check the wires on the neutral safety switch(behind the front sprocket cover)and on the clutch handle perch.

If anyone cares...I installed the new battery and all was golden :) The old one would not register volts or amps at the battery center I took it to. Best just to buy new anyway. I had no way of knowing how old it was in the first place. Headed to Haspin Acres in IN this weekend. Can't wait for some mud...Thanks to all who responded.
