    Making her street legal

    by outoftowner » Sat Apr 17, 2010 9:18 pm

Well I have came to a point in my life, either I sell my bike, or find another use for my 230f (getting too big to go off roading with it, either this or upgrade to a 250 or 450). So I am going to make it street legal since I live about 17km away from where I work. So I need your guys' help.

I have all of my insurance and inspection lined up, 335 bucks a year for insurance (basically just liability) and the inspection and licensing would be 250 bucks (a one time charge).

For lighting kit I am ordering the baja designs lights kit, Then get a set of mirrors on top of that and a trail tech vapor computer. My tires are already ordered through my local dealership and I picked up a 40 tooth rear sprocket to speed it up from the 50 tooth OEM sproket.

Is there anything i'm missing here that I would need for it to pass inspection? Also later on depending on how wierd it looks I might get the BBR stiffer rear spring so it sits a bit higher.

    Thanks In advance guys!

The bike you are building is the one I already built - go for it! Just did 1000 miles in Death Valley this spring - on and off road - and it was great. Careful with the rear sprocket you make lose too much low end. I started with the front sprocket from 13T to 14T and went from there. Don't forget either to upgrade the stator, otherwise you will have a dead battery in about an hour with the light on.
