Hey im looking at buying a crf230f but i dont know whether there is any means of starting it other than the electric start.

yeah..230s are sweet dont need to wear out your foot with that kick starter

you can bump start it if the battery dies.
only one way i know of getting a kick starter..
get a gen 1. (03-05) CRF150F motor
swap over the whole 230F top-end, piston, cyl.
viola, a 5 speed, kick start 230f... sorta
