    crf230 question

    by ptesmoke » Thu Jan 15, 2009 8:27 pm

hi guys, i have a quick question, i currently have a 2000 xr200r , im 6' and about 220lbs. the xr is alittle small for me but i do have fun messing around with my buddies who have quads. power wise its ok not amazing but it gets up and goes. i came across a 2004 crf 230 for a steal and its in mint condition, but what i want to know is if it is alittle bigger than the xr200 or not? and if it has any more power? my only other concern was the suspension, i find my xr200 doesnt have as much travel as id like, is the crf230 any better? thanks for any help guys. i use them mostly for trail riding. maybe the odd small jump or two.

the 230 is a good bike, and if it's a steal it might be worth it, but at your height/weight you might want to think about a 250 or 450.

my son had a 230 and i rode it some, but he grew tired of the lack of performance (speed and jumps), and i would top out and bottom out on the trails (you and i are the same build)
for slow trails and mediocre hill climbs, the 230 is very forgiving, but dont expect it to be a rocket.

i would love an xr400 but dont have the funds for one right now.

basically im trying to find out if its any better than the xr200 i currently have, it seems like the 230 is a little bigger. basically its a free upgrade if i do get it as i already have my xr sold if i get the crf. so my question is, whic is bigger faster and a little more suspension travel? xr200 or crf230?

The CRF230 is better, more modern, than the XR200.
If it is a free upgrade might be worth it.

We have both an XR200 and a CRF230 in our collection and the CRF230 is way better. Suspension, braking and a little more power. Good luck, Guy
