Hey guys, I have both a 250X and a 230F and I am in need of a a new set of sprockets and a chain for the 230F. I have upgraded my sprockets on the 250X and made them smaller for trail riding. What are the stock sprocket sizes for the 2006 crf230F, and can I gear it differently like I did with the 250x?

The stock gearing on a 230F is 13 tooth in the front and 51 in the rear. As you might have read, this gearing makes first gear absolutely useless. I searched high and low for a 15 tooth front sprocket with no luck. So I opted to drop the rear sprocket to a 44 tooth which gave me a similar gear ratio. I can't say enough of how much of a difference this makes on the trails. I've heard that dropping the front sprocket to a 14 produces good results too, but every forum I've been on raves over the 15 tooth front sprocket. Ive used both the 14 and 15 fronts, the 14 was great ,i put the 15 on and the very same tight trails/mud/ruts etc were more difficult and i stalled 3 times ,the 15 doesnt pull as easily off bottom ,put the 14 back on were good  if your trails are open then the 15 may be better it gives far more top end which i dont use
