    just picked up a 230F

    Hey what sup. Aight well found a 05 crf 230f and got the guy down to $1200 for it. It runs great, no damage. Guy mostly rode it on the streets.

    All it needs to be 100% is a battery. Battery on bike is dead and gets the starter to click but no enough juice to turn over.

    But now i need to start looking to make this thing faster.

    I did research but still not satisfied with results. First thing i should do is get the power up kit right? That basically re jets the carb.
    then what, take the baffles out, open the air box, good flowing filter and then exhaust.

    I guess my first question is rejetting the carb. WHich kit should i go with. and what else needs to be done to the carb. anything?

    Hondas Power Up kit works great, if JD Jetting makes one I wouldn't hesitate to run that either.
    So yup, the jetting,airbox and exhaust all help quite a bit.
    If you ride in very tight stuff I'd install a 14 tooth countershaft sprocket, if in more wide open areas a 15 tooth. BBR and the Project CRF230 at www.off-road.com both recommended that and it's a huge difference. Stock, first is so low as to be useless.
    My sons 230 has a Powroll cam and BBR big bore kit with spectacular improvements. It's still very civilized but it pulls a lot harder and a lot longer with a big improvement from bottom to top. Doug

    awesome. thanks. im looking for a local dealer that has the power up kit in stock. So far they are saying it will take a day to get in and its around $80. is that price true?

    im going to go with the #132 main and #45 pilot. Im seeing these work out great for people. and then the air box and baffles will come out.

    i seen the 428 sprocket kit set for sale on this site. what do you guys think about that setup?

    It's way over rated (like most SideWinder stuff), and maybe questionable on being strong enough for a modified bike.
    Just put a 14-15t countershaft sprocket on, the stock chain is excellent.
    Shop around a little , you may find that PowerUp kit a little cheaper. Doug

    OMG! Do NOT buy that kit for that price! Buy it from yeltrik.com for less than 1/2 that and do it yourself.

    haha. i figured the price was a little steep. And that was just the parts. I dont let any places work on my bikes or cars. i do it all myself. so no problem there.

    I did find another site that had the main jet for like $6 and the pilot for $6. but i couldnt find the needle. im going to go to that site you said and see what they got.

    But just to make sure. i need the main jet, pilot jet, needle and gasket. and thats it right?

    16012-KPS-921 Needle (Includes Power up needle, Clip, and needle jet)
    99113-GHB-1320 Main jet (Where 132 is the jet size)
    99103-MT2-0450 Pilot jet (Where 45 is the pilot jet size)
