I need a little help with my clutch

    by joshrube82 » Tue May 06, 2008 7:15 am

So I just bought a 230 for a NICE price I am going to be doing some work on it. It is my first bike so I think it will be a good starter bike. I work on cars so working on motorcycles isn't to far off but I would like some direction. The bikes clutch cable is adjusted all the way out and the guy I got it from said it needs a new clutch soon. What manual or is there a guide that will tell me how to change out the clutch. I cant seem to find a manual for the bike on ebay or amazon, is there a place where you guys buy your manuals? and also which manual is going to tell me how to change the clutch out unless there is a guide but I havent seen on on the site.

Then my other question here is the clutch kit I want to get, what do you think about it, do you suggest another one before I spend the money? would the honda oem one be ok since its only $54 instead of $104 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DP-DPK-C ... enameZWD1V

I am going to start doing some mods on it as soon as I have time I was reading about the power ups and things you can do on this model but since I am new it seems fast enough for now :)

There is nothing wrong with the OEM plates.
    If fact Hinson recommends them.
If you replace the plates it is probably time for springs as well.
The other thing to look out for is how much wear is on the clutch basket. If it is not too bad a fine file will clean it up nicely.
Get the manual first and see how you go adjusting the cable, you might be surprised.

are there any special tools you need to change out the clutch and springs, like to put on the springs?

I am going to be getting everything and replace it all so I know it will last a while, I am also getting a new clutch lever because mine is all loose and it doesn't look like it can be fixed so I will just replace it.

Which book though should I get because the owners manual I wouldn't think would tell you how to change the clutch, would it be the service manual? and that link from above I might be a retard but I don't know I cant find a manual for my bike it doesn't even really give you an options to pick a certain bike.
