So...like a dumbass I accidentally stripped the link arm locking screw when going to replace the needle. I've never seen a screw strip so easily though, it twisted like butter before I even realized what had happened.

I read on here where someone else did the same thing but I cant remember who it was (did you resolve the prob?) And his replies were basically...you're screwed.


Its not really a big deal but any ideas? Any simple little tools to get it out? If not I'll say forget it and just do the jets.

Yea I had remembered seeing an ad for something like that but I couldnt remember what it was called. Will look into it.

I also had to order one of those D-bit sockets to get the damn stock fuel screw out. The tip of the only flat head screw driver I had that was small enough to get up in there actually broke off when I was trying to get it to turn.

So you're not the only dumbass, I did the same thing. You're right, it's as soft as butter. I went down to Lowes and bought an easy out, but that didn't work. I then busted out the dremel with a small cut off wheel and ground in a slot. Then I used flat head screwdriver. Came right out! CAUTION: If you do this, you WILL get tiny metal flakes and abrasive filings in the carb. Clean it out completely with some carb cleaner.

Thank you so much!! I was just changing the needle today and stripped it. I was trying to think of a way to get it out. That dumb screw and washer is like 7 dollars OEM. Do you think I should just leave the old one in or get a new screw now that I have it out?

Typical Japanese fastener - replace whenever you can.
Make sure whatever you use does the job as well.

After grinding in a slot, I made sure that I deburred the edges and reused the same screw. I don't plan on changing out the needle again and the threads on the screw were fine.
