Something better than the Power Up kit for 5,000'+?

Just curious if there is a better option for my altitude.

I installed the Power Up kit per Ricks/Dirt Rider's instructions. Drilled the baffle and took out the snorkel.

Stock air filter still, and stock fuel adjustment screw. I went up one on the c/s sprocket, and will try the 15t.

If there is a better option, and if so what parts would need to be replaced?

I'm having trouble selling the bike for what I'd like, so I may just keep it another summer so I'd like to try to get a little more oomph and such. Right now, even in the summer, it's pretty cold blooded but I don't want to lean it out and damage it.

I did search, most seem to be aimed at the sea level crowd.

We ride anywhere from 40-100, temp wise.

At 40, it has to be monitored to keep from dying and not a lot better than that when it's warm.

I get it running at full choke, summer or winter, and once it settles a little half choke until I ride.

I don't recall replacing the pilot jet though.

Just the needle and main jet.

    Could this be an issue?

I think I'm going to try a 128 main and a 40 pilot, as I think it still has the stock pilot which should be a 42.

    I've been looking and I'm confused between a 120/40or45 or a 128/40 or 45 combo.

I ride at 5,000 to 7,000+ ft. here in Northern Nevada so it has been a challenge to figure out where to start with the jetting and other intake/exhaust modifications. So, here is what I finally "started" with:

    2005 CRF 230 F:
Pilot Jet: 45 (to help with the starting mainly)
Main Jet: 105 (will start here)
    Fuel Setting: Stock
Needle Setting: 4th groove from the top
    Air Filter: No Toil
    Snorkel: Removed
    Baffle: Drilled

I just made these changes yesterday and have not tried it out yet. I did discuss these changes with local area riders who have made similar mods to other bikes with excellent results.
So, we'll see how it works - I hope to try out in the next day or two and will let you know.

OK, I tried out the settings above and it was really strong from about half throttle to full throttle, flat below half throttle. So, here is what I am trying now:

    2005 CRF 230 F:
    Pilot Jet: 45
Main Jet: 115 (increase from 105)
Fuel Setting: CRFs Only - 1.75 turns out.
Needle Setting: 4th groove from the top
    Air Filter: No Toil
    Snorkel: Removed
    Baffle: Drilled

I have not run it yet, but I did start it up yesterday and warmed it up and it appears that it now has good throttle response throughout the power band. However, there is a hesitation when you first crack the throttle so going to work with the fuel screw to see if I can get that out.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Bob
