    CRF 230 f exhaust????

    by nrerstress420 » Wed Dec 19, 2007 7:46 am

I have a '05' crf 230f and am puttting a new complete exhaust sysytem on it. I am am choosing from the BBR system and a pro circuit t-4 system. Just wanted to know if any one has these, and can tell me about there performance gains. Which one would you pick, or any other sytems that you thin would be better. I want to boost my performance and my old exhaust is cracked and old.

i have the BBR and i would say that without re-jetting the carb you will see minimal gain, if any from the exhaust.

while opening the airbox, new exhaust AND re-jetting will yield optimal gains throughout.

rejetting is about $15 if you know what sizes to get and dont have to but a bunch of different ones.

I have the T-4. I love it. And yes the carb and airbox need to be opened up.

With a PowRoll cam ,BBR pipe, Power -Up kit from Honda and the airbox mod we got considerably stronger running top to bottom.

    No doubt about it.
Make SURE you put a 15T countershaft sprocket on it, then your bike will have sensible gearing with a first you can actually use. BBR and the legendary Rick Seiman with the"ProjectCRF230"on www.off-road.com recommend it and you won't be sorry.
No, you don't lose any climbing ability.,and you'll pick up 10mph (!) top speed to boot. There are no drawbacks to that sprocket. Funny, when you do that 15t to the 230 it winds up with final drive ratios almost identical to those of the 250X. Doug

thru the entire range. the only problem i had was when i installed a widder Maxxis tire. it rubbed. i had to bend the mounts on the pipe. which is tricky because they are stringer than the pipe body. i had to secure the mount below the bend with a big crescent.

i have the t-4 and it made a big difference in the bike especially after opening the air box and changing the filter. the t-4 also has a header where it starts to increase in diameter which im pretty sure others don't

The BBR does, there may be others as well.
ProCircuit does make great stuff though, no doubt about it. If it's a little bike though BBR is second to none. Doug

stepped header, many of the other companies do this as well.
